Salon Marketing Online – How this salon’s new website grabbed fresh customers within days…

Salon owner and Inner Circle member Cherie Underwood is a passionate convert to the power of her salon's new website to attract customers

Every salon owner dreams of the day when she can get ‘off the tools’ and reap the rewards of all those hard years slogging away on the floor. Few take the necessary action to achieve that dream. One who did was IC Premium member (two years) Cherie Underwood of Femme Fatale in Jannali, New South Wales.

Elsewhere on this site we reported on how ‘my’ kind of marketing enabled Cherie to leave the salon under management while she stayed at home with a brand new baby. But it also gave Cherie the time to concentrate on being a marketer of her business (that’s where the real money is).

A few weeks ago, Cherie took up our offer to build her a client-generating website, designed not just to look ‘pretty’ but to get noticed in the search engines, attract clients who want to spend, and create ‘passive income’ – in other words, money while you sleep.

Our ‘web nerd’, Marty Owens, not only built the site, but also created a Facebook page for the salon, with ‘follow us’ links on the main salon site.

Results were instantaneous. As Cherie revealed in an interview with her today, she’s over the moon…and delighted that it’s another cog in the marketing machine that’s already producing income.


Here’s the power that Cherie is referring to:  anybody Googling for a beauty salon in Cherie’s local area for a beauty salon might, for example, type ‘beauty salon Jannali’ in the search bar.

When I tested it, Femme Fatale came up right at the top of the organic Google search listings. That’s pretty amazing, after only a week online.

      Am I missing something here?

      Greg says: Joe, I’m not a card-carrying tech head. So all I know is that when I typed ‘beauty salon jannali’ into the Google search bar, it bought up that new website in the organic searches on the first page. In two places, in fact, a map and a simple organic listing. How much traffic it gets is pretty immaterial – and after only a week online, I suspect it wouldn’t be expected to be much. The point is, if there’s somebody in Jannali who’s searching for a beauty salon in that town, then this website appears to be coming up on the first page of Google. And the only measurable traffic that matters to the owner of a salon is the traffic that physically comes through her front door. A website can generate a ton of traffic, but if it doesn’t turn into money in the bank, it’s worthless.
      (And this Cherie reports that she has already had three new customers who found her website directly through a web search, so something’s working)
      Google is smart enough to know that this site is a beauty salon, and is located in Jannali. Google will serve up this page as a local result for anyone searching for “Beauty Salon”, from the location of Jannali.
      For example: I type in “hair salon” in Google, and it shows me PERTH based salons in the local area … that’s because I’m in Perth. Those in Jannali will get “http://www.femmefatalebeauty.com.au/”

      I’d love to see the site- but the link keeps bringing up a page that says there’s a programming error. Same thing happens when I try access directly from a google search….

      Am I the only one who gets that message?
