Nadine BastienI signed up with Inner Circle in July. I had left the salon I had been working for and went off on my own. I got sooo excited when I received my package with all my marketing tools! When I left the salon I was working for I lost a LOT of my clients, so Alberto (my WSM coach) suggested I send out the "Rupert the Dog Letters".

I changed the name to "Arthur" because I have a puppy named "Arthur" & my clients would remember him. I could not believe how well those letters worked! I got 33 lost clients back! One of my clients even said, "you know, if you had just sent a letter saying where you were I probably wouldn't have come, but that dog letter really got my attention." I was shocked!

After that, I got started right away with my flyers. I got them made up, delivered and was sooo excited for the "flood" of phone calls I was going to receive from them. Well I waited, and nothing happened. I was devastated! I couldn't believe that I had done all that work and gotten nothing. But I am very stubborn, and I had more flyers made up and sent out. The 2nd round of 500 flyers brought in 3 new clients, this was still not the flood I was hoping for, but at least it worked!

I have come to realize with help from my coaching calls that this was normal, and I was doing a great job with things. I think I also after first reading all those testimonials from the other salons with their success that I would be getting 15 new clients a week like they were. That doesn't happen with everyone, and starting a new salon is not an easy task. It takes work, and as long as you are willing to do the work you WILL reap the rewards.


If it weren't for the Inner Circle Salon Marketing I don't know where I would be! A great deal of my clients are coming in saying how much they love my marketing and how much they love how I keep them "in the loop" with all the special offers etc that I send out. My clients are referring friends, family and co workers, the "queen of referrals" works wonders! I couldn't ask for anything better.

Just thought I'd give you another testimonial... regarding our Customer Appreciation Evening we had at our salon last week.

In less than an hour and one half, we did $300 shy of $10,000. All this was done by selling our Mini Memberships which totalled $5700 and retail which totaled $2600 and also pre-sold and booked hair packages for January and February which totaled $1400.

We emailed and spread the word in the salon with posters of our first Customer Appreciation Evening. We had our clients sign up for the evening and to bring family and friends. We had a total of 76 clients show up for the fun filled evening.Each one coming for one purpose. Buy a membership and save on their pre Christmas shopping.

Wouldn't have thought of this had it not been for my mentor, Catherine Hanson, and Worldwide Salon Marketing for the ideas on the templates and how to market to my clients.

Our next promo is already in the works. We are going to pre sell and book more hair packages for Jan and Feb, which are traditionally slower months for our business and to start our after Christmas sale of retail.

Because of our increased marketing, one of my clients has noticed how much we are doing that he approached me to do a marketing project with him and his son's hockey team. There will be a tournament with 17 teams participating. Now, as you may know, 17 teams means lots of people over a three day period. As he wants to make some money for his team. he asked if he could set up a booth with our left over retail products and sell them for us at the three day tournament for a slight commission. Naturally I said yes. I'll keep you posted to let you know the outcome of that.

Maria HaanpaaI have to thank you for your response about our world champ-marketing.
I called the Local newspaper and they made a story of us and at the same newspaper we ran an ad as Hollywood package but it was called World Champs-package. With that ad we've got 26 new customers with 79€. We've
taken all their information and also gave them 5 of the Queen of Referrals
and they are bringing more new customers to us.

Since we started the Queen of Referrals we've got about 50 new customers in a month! We've been doing that just 2 months now and I did a
competition on that. Whoever gets the most customers to us by the end of March will win 1000€ gift certificate.

I'm now using our World Championship 'Silver Medalist' slogan on everything I print and it seems that it works so well.

I have also built up Facebook pages and I update that every week because if it stays still it loses its value and people don't go there to look anymore.

Anyway, thank you so much for everything, I wouldn't be here without you guys! We've doubled our sales within only 3months and I still want to double that within the next 6months....

Claire MasonThank you for your help. In October I purchased a Beauty Salon which was running at loss. The staff wages alone were @ 56% of the turnover. Not only that but the premises was disgustingly filthy. The fit out, data base, location and parking were why I purchased. I kept 5 of the staff, on casual and gave them all a 3 month probation period. The beauty services were under Brisbane median prices so I brought them up to the 21st century and retrained the staff.

We have been open for one month Friday and with the help of your marketing material, 6 now very enthusiastic staff and a very good business plan have sold;

12 x skin peel packages @ $840 = $10,080 in the first 8 days, all internally. Since I sold out of those I came up with 2 separate $99 packages for the therapists, one microdermabrasion and one Organic facial package. A4 colour flyers were printed cost, $250 and handed out to all of the clients coming into the new clinic. By this method alone, 17 day’s trade we converted to date a total of 26 packages, $2,574. An average of $151/day. 93% of these clients have rebooked. These clients purchased a total of $2400 in product which totals $4,974 plus the $10,080 = $15,054 for 24 day’s trade. These were just the packages by the way, our trade has been just over 30k and we have successfully turned this rebranded (and incredibly clean) premises into an in the black business within one month with WSM’s help.

I also tried the Buy 1 Get 1 Free Gift Voucher Offer which produced a minimum of 55 new clients and just over $12,000 income that I otherwise would not have received upfront. Definitely helpful in beginning stages of business.

I am so happy now because I can fully utilise the system now and value add the hell out of everything.

I’ve got another coaching call with Annette which is great because honestly my marketing effort prior to open day was piss poor (due to seriously tight time restraints) but I’m hoping I can with Annette’s help create a huge buzz for an Open Day or something similar.

We sent email blasts along with approximately 5 newspaper ads totalling a cost of around $750. We began the sale on June 17th and it ran until July 3, 2010. Last year during the time-frame of June 17th thru July 3rd, we had total revenues of $41,956, this year our total revenues were $81, 235!!!

Heidi Morton"Numbers wise, our turnover is up over 40% year on year, month on month. I have employed more staff and we are still growing. We have not gone backwards in over 15 months. I want to double over two years and we are on track for this to happen. Our staff love that they are more busy and have more $’s in their pay packets.

"WSM is not an easy fix, it takes time and effort. I love the way it prompts me to think outside the square, I have some great ideas to implement in 2011 (2010’s move took up too much of my time!) and can’t wait to see what happens with my business.

"By the way, this year I have had two overseas holidays, won another trip overseas (karma coming back to get me!), spent more quality time with my kids and have felt a lot happier about where I and the business is heading. However I never lose sight of the customer, our most important asset and whilst I know I can get new clients easily I still look after our current clients with quality, friendly service with value added services for them as well. They love it and complain to us if they are not getting enough deals or promotions like last month, which was our best ever and contained no promotions other than our monthly special as we were too busy all our rooms busy all the time. Now if only I could find some quality staff to expand!!”

Graham Bannister"Just to give you an update on this week's marketing. We ran the ad that we discussed on Friday in the H&P Times and printed 500 flyers for the Hollywood Package for New Clients. Sent out an SMS and email to existing clients for the Envy Package.

"Things started out a but rough on Tuesday morning, mainly my fault. As I arrived 10 mins later than everyone else in the salon and the answer machine was full of people making enquires about the package we were selling!!

"With being busy on Friday and Saturday I didn't have time to fully brief all the details of the packages to the staff, they just knew we where
running an ad. Which they weren't to happy about, as I had shown them a mockup of what we were promoting on Thursday night (I think I mentioned this on Friday morning during our chat).

"So after explaining the packages and what was involved, they still weren't impressed!! By 3pm on the Tuesday we had sold 11 Hollywood packages (new clients) and 8 Envy packages (existing) clients. I then went and delivered the flyers I had printed. When I returned at closing we had sold 15 Hollywood Packages and 11 Envy packages. Lets just say that the staff were a bit happier.

"The Hollywood packages were all sold out by 11am on Wednesday, And we only have 4 Envy packs left. We are still getting people phoning about the Hollywood packages, I decided not to sell any more at this stage, as the staff are still in shock as to what has happened. But we are getting peoples details and adding them to the data based so we can send them our SMS offers in the future. One of the seniors came up to me last night and apologised for being closed
minded, and said after 14 years in the industry she hasn't seen that kind of response to an advert before! So a BIG THANKYOU CHRIS and to the GUYS at Salon Marketing!!!!"
